Santa Monica Cohesive Implant
Santa Monica Cohesive Implant - Silicone gel already enjoys a measure of popularity as a breast implant filler. Although silicone gel implants cannot be
inflated after insertion and so may require a larger incision than a comparable augmentation with saline breast implants, its consistency gives it a more natural feel than saline. The concerns of the early '90s, centering around potential health risks supposed to be linked to leaking silicone have effectively been allayed, and the FDA bestowed their approval upon silicone implants in 2006. Now, the next generation of silicone gel implants are in clinical trials.Sometimes referred to as "Gummy Bear" implants, the new cohesive gel breast implants are already widely popular in Europe. They are more form stable than either saline implants or conventional silicone implants. As such, they lend themselves well to a more tapered shape, which better resembles a natural breast contour. The nature of the silicone also renders them relatively leak-free.
These natural-feeling and -looking results are only available in the United States through certain surgeons participating in the clinical trials. Santa Monica plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is "the only surgeon in the state of California who was asked to participate in the clinical trials of all three cohesive implant manufacturers."
