Detroit Surgeon, Breast Reconstruction Surgery

Detroit breast reconstruction - Over 190,000 women would be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States in 2009 according to an estimate from the American Cancer Society, which predicted that close to 40,000 would die of the disease. Faced with such a deadly malady, doctors are often forced to remove the offending body part completely lest the tumor spread. Women who must undergo a mastectomy, however, are also presented with a whole host of potential physical and emotional woes over and above the cancer. The breast may seem purely decorative from certain perspectives, but often plays a central role in a woman's sense of self and femininity.

It would be the epitome of understatement to suggest that the decision to have breast reconstruction is highly personal. Though a reconstructed breast will never look or feel exactly like the original breast, it can make a significant positive impact on the self image and quality of life of women who choose to undergo the procedure, and a study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons released in 2008 found that 98% of women would choose breast reconstruction again. Detroit plastic surgeon, Dr. Mohamad H. Bazzi, is a board certified plastic surgeon providing breast surgery and a full range of cosmetic procedures.

Male Plastic Surgery - Breast Reduction in L.A., CA

Los Angeles breast surgery is not just about women seeking better proportions to their figure. While it's true that doctors like Los Angeles plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, do provide a full range of breast surgery to women, increasing, decreasing, lifting and more, there is also breast reduction for men to consider.

Defined by Mirriam-Webster Online as "excessive development of the breast in the male," gynecomastia is actually quite normal. Statistically, in fact, a man is much more likely to develop gynecomastia than not. Frequently it resolves itself, but when "man-boobs" don't go away on their own, they still need not be permanent. Just as Dr. Teitelbaum treats women who are dissatisfied with their breasts, gynecomastia is quite treatable. Men might not think of themselves as likely candidates for plastic surgery, but male plastic surgery isn't limited to moobs. While you see Dr. Teitelbaum as your gynecomastia surgeon, there may be additional procedures from which you might benefit.

Santa Monica Cohesive Implant

Santa Monica Cohesive Implant - Silicone gel already enjoys a measure of popularity as a breast implant filler. Although silicone gel implants cannot be Santa Monica Breast Augmentation inflated after insertion and so may require a larger incision than a comparable augmentation with saline breast implants, its consistency gives it a more natural feel than saline. The concerns of the early '90s, centering around potential health risks supposed to be linked to leaking silicone have effectively been allayed, and the FDA bestowed their approval upon silicone implants in 2006. Now, the next generation of silicone gel implants are in clinical trials.

Sometimes referred to as "Gummy Bear" implants, the new cohesive gel breast implants are already widely popular in Europe. They are more form stable than either saline implants or conventional silicone implants. As such, they lend themselves well to a more tapered shape, which better resembles a natural breast contour. The nature of the silicone also renders them relatively leak-free.

These natural-feeling and -looking results are only available in the United States through certain surgeons participating in the clinical trials. Santa Monica plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is "the only surgeon in the state of California who was asked to participate in the clinical trials of all three cohesive implant manufacturers."

Body Contouring Surgery Like Abdominoplasty And Liposuction Are Performed To Create A Better Contour

The cannula is inserted beneath the patient's skin and it's used to vacuum the fat away from certain irregular contours around one's body.

Plastic Surgeon in Canton MI

Michigan Breast Augmentation - When I recall the worries that emerged around silicone gel-filled breast implants Breast Implants Michigan in the early '90s, it reminds me of a cartoon I saw at the time of a woman with a deflated chest and bell-shaped legs glaring at a scientist, implying that the gel from her implants had not only leaked but found its way down through her body to slosh around her ankles. Actually, silicone gel is more likely to remain in the shell or the implant pocket. In fact it may be difficult even to detect a leak in a silicone implant without an ultrasound or MRI scan.

There's been a lot learned over the almost 20 years since the FDA withdrew its approval of silicone breast implants (silicone breast implants regained FDA approval in 2006 and are currently available for augmentation in women of at least 22 years of age). Much of the most crucial information about breast implants is only applicable on an individual basis, based on the physiology of the patient. Consequently your doctor consultation vitally important. Dr. Bazzi is a board certified Michigan plastic surgeon who can provide you the personalized information you need to make an educated choice.

Reduction Breast Surgery for Men in Beverly Hills, California

Los Angeles breast surgery isn't always performed on women. Many men will develop gynecomastia for a number of reasons. Beverly Hills Gynecomastia Gynecomastia, at its core, is simply an abnormal enlargement of one or both of the breast areas on a male's chest. Of course, though "man boobs" aren't necessarily threatening to physical health, they can be a source of self-consciousness that men who are so afflicted may be unwilling to discuss even with a doctor. Los Angeles plastic surgeon Steven Teitelbaum saw the need to provide men with a better way to privately learn more about their options, and one part of his efforts to fill that need took the form of a web site devoted expressly to gynecomastia treatment.

Liposuction Today

You may be a candidate for liposuction if you have excess subcutaneous fat, which is resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction may also be desirable if you wish to change the contours of your body. Commonly involved areas are the anterior part of the neck (under the chin), upper arms and armpits, male chest/breasts, trunk, abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, inner knees, calves, and ankles. Most patients are near normal weight and desire permanent contour changes.

Patients who have had children or experienced a history of significant weight gain followed by weight loss often have excess skin (with or without excess fat) as their primary problem and will benefit most from some form of excisional surgery. Post-Bariatric Surgery patients often have excess skin in a number of areas necessitating more than one procedure.

Following Liposuction Surgery, Most People Have Very Little Pain

Prior to your liposuction procedure, your cosmetic surgeon will carefully outline the areas of bulging fat that are to be suctioned. He or she will then draw detailed contour lines in order to further define the contour and shape characteristics of the deposits of fat. Plastic surgeons will use the "tumescent technique" in which a large amount of fluid will be initially placed to swell the area. This technique allows for fat to be removed in a very safe, smooth, and symmetrical manner. The fluid is capable of helping to loosen the fat while it also provides a local anesthesia for operative and immediate post-operative discomfort. The fluid will also be able to provide epinephrine which is able to decrease bleeding.

Body Contouring Cosmetic Surgery Procedures Can Tighten Virtually Any Area Of Your Body

A body lift procedure is very similar to a face lift. The only difference with it is that it involves the center of the body. A body lift, specifically is the surgical contouring of the abdomen, thighs, arms, and breasts in order to remove hanging, excess skin. The plastic surgery procedure itself is created for people that have lost a large amount of weight either through exercise and dieting or through gastric bypass surgery. A significant loss of weight will often leave people with excessive, saggy, and unsightly skin that does not conform to their new, thinner figures. Another candidate for a body lift is a person who has excessive, sagging skin as the result of either the normal aging process of pregnancy. As people age, their skin stops producing collagen, proteins, and elastin that are needed to keep skin toned and tight.

Prior To Your Abdominoplasty, Your Plastic Surgeon Will Explain The Risks Associated With The Surgery

An abdominoplasty, or sometimes referred to as a tummy tuck, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures available. A tummy tuck is capable of removing excess fat and skin and may also tighten the abdominal muscles to create a tight, smooth, better contoured waistline. In most cases it can also restore separated or weakened muscles. A good candidate for a tummy tuck will have excess or loose skin due to pregnancy, weight loss, or loss of skin elasticity from aging or stretch marks. The surgery is often combined with liposuction to the love handle areas to provide a better contour to the entire waistline. Also, it is commonly performed along with a breast augmentation procedure and liposuction. This set of procedures is often referred to as the "Mommy Makeover." The decision you make to have an abdominoplasty is extremely personal and it will have to be decided if the potential risks and complications are acceptable and if the surgery will achieve your goals.

Any person who is on a weight-loss plan should be close to their target weight that they have set before they have the surgery performed. Any woman who is planning on having a future pregnancy should delay receiving an abdominoplasty, as pregnancy will stretch the abdomen again.

A Safer Removal Of Fat Is Allowed By Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction Performed By A Plastic Surgeon

Plastic surgeons use UAL which allows for a safer removal of a larger amount of fat than what a standard liposuction procedure allows. This increase in safety is accredited to the smaller amount of blood that needs to be removed with UAL. This means that UAL surgery can be extremely useful to someone who is only somewhat overweight even though the procedure is not meant for weight loss. Ultrasound assisted liposuction is intended to improve both the contour of one's body and the proportions, resulting in a more flattering physique or figure.

Plastic Surgery: A Personal Choice

The reasons for wanting plastic surgery are as varied and as unique as the patients themselves. Everyone who considers plastic surgery has their own reasons for doing so.

Sometimes plastic surgery is done to reclaim the body from the ravages of disease. Psychologically speaking, cosmetic surgery is part of the healing process for some people. A woman who beat breast cancer, but lost a breast might not feel completely victorious until she’s undergone breast surgery. A woman who lives with PCOS may find it easier to cope with the risks of the syndrome if laser hair removal eliminates the unwanted hair on her face. A man whose teenage years were plagued with severe acne might find more confidence if the appearance of his scars is reduced. People who have won the battle with obesity and have lost a drastic amount of weight may want or need excess skin removed. People, who are born with disfiguring birth defects or the parents of children born with disfiguring birth defects such as a cleft palate, often find hope in plastic surgery.

Sometimes plastic surgery is used to erase damage from injury. People who survive fires, explosions, war, or a violent attack may find that the scars act as permanent reminders of the trauma. These people may find that their lives are enriched if they can reduce the appearance of scars.

For other people, cosmetic surgery is just that—cosmetic. They want to look as young as they feel. For some people dying gray hair is enough to bridge the divide between what is in the mirror and what is in their heart. Face lifts, collagen injections, and other practices can remove years from someone’s appearance.

Plastic surgery can also be used to change something someone doesn’t like about their appearance. Rhinoplasty is a common cosmetic procedure. The nose is in the center of the face and can change the way the entire face looks. If someone is unhappy with their nose, it can be changed. Liposuction is often used by athletic people who just can’t seem to get rid of the fat in a specific area.

The reasons for considering plastic surgery vary, but they’re always deeply personal. If something is really bothering someone about their appearance, then it’s not a trivial concern. It’s not egotistical vanity. Plastic surgery is something people do to feel better about themselves and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Considering Breast Revision in Utah

Breast Revision - Utah - Breast implants can revive breast volume lost to time and gravity, create the bustline nature never granted, Breast Enlargement Utahcorrect asymmetry, and even restore breasts lost to illness or injury. Surgical procedures can go awry, however, and though complications are rare for breast implant surgery, they can happen. When a previous breast augmentation creates a cosmetic problem or poses a health risk, it generally means removal or replacement of the implant. Some of the more common complications to breast enlargement are capsular contracture, nipple sensitivity (or the loss thereof), rippling, and rupture.

Complications are not the only reason for revision surgery, of course. Most implants are only designed to last 10 years, so revision surgery becomes necessary. Many women find, too, that after their surgery they simply wish they had gotten larger implants. For more information on Utah plastic surgery, see Dr. Joseph Berg.

Self Image and Los Angeles Breast Augmentation

Say what you will about what ought or ought not be, our society's judgments about a woman's appearance puts significant emphasis on the size and shape of her breasts. Beverly Hills breast augmentation surgeon, Dr. Francis Palmer, suggests that a balanced shape is achieved when the outer edge of the breasts lines up vertically with the outer edge of the hips, but also points out that, as with any cosmetic surgery, breast augmentation surgery must be tailored specifically to the individual patient. A personal consultation with Dr. Palmer is a good start toward taking control of your appearance.

Lipoplasty Is For You If You Have Fatty Areas That Don't Respond To Diet Or Exercise

Liposuction would be a great option for you if you have fatty areas that don't respond to exercise or diet. Liposuction isn't a weight-loss or cellulite treatment procedure and people that are in good shape, yet struggle with "problem" areas are the best candidates. The procedure contours and slims various areas of a person's body by removing the excess fat. Liposuction does not treat loose or sagging skin. In some cases, liposuction is performed alone, in other cases it is used with procedures such as a breast reduction/lift or a tummy tuck, which can reduce sagging skin. According to Tacoma plastic surgeon, Dr. Nichols, when combined with other procedures, liposuction can be one of the procedures in a Mommy Makeover.

Cosmetic Surgeons Will Perform A Mini Abdominoplasty On Those Who Have Subtle Excess Skin And Fat

Los Angeles plastic surgeons perform mini tummy tuck procedures on patients who demonstrate subtle excess skin and fat in their lower abdominal regions. It can also be performed to remove previous surgical scars (such as a C-section). The scars from the procedure are usually much smaller than a traditional tummy tuck scar, and they are well concealed within the bikini line. Along with this, the muscles on their abdomen are able to be tightened to improve the bulge on their lower abdomen. There is only a small percentage of patients that are a good candidate for the mini tummy tuck surgery.

Abdominoplasty in Lindon, UT

Abdominoplasty Utah - A tummy tuck operation involves making an incision that falls along the natural skin creases of the lower abdomen, usually correlating with the bikini line. From there, the skin is lifted away from the abdomen, creating a flap. Depending on the patient's individual situation, the navel may be repositioned, fat may be liposuctioned away, and excess skin is excised, or cut away. Scarring is minimized as much as possible by the incision's being located in a natural crease, and by the application of vitamins and adhesives, but a scar is to be expected whenever there is an incision.

Utah cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kimball Crofts, also reminds potential patients that planned future pregnancies and certain medical conditions can make the procedure unsafe. The best way to know for sure if you are a good candidate for this procedure is in a personal consultation with your surgeon.

Gynecomastia Treatment Options in Los Angeles

Men and women both endure dissatisfaction with their bodies from time to time. In fact, this is true even for breasts. Women may feel their breasts are too small, whereas if breasts appear at all on a man, they're too big. The appropriate term for these 'man-boobs' is gynecomastia. Unlike women, however, who talk to each other about breast surgery, men just don't discuss gynecomastia. Talking about your man-boobs, even with friends, much less a doctor, is an embarrassment.

To help men learn about and consider gynecomastia treatment options, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum of Santa Monica launched BeverlyHillsGynecomastia.com. The internet affords considerable anonymity, where a man can research his situation and his options in peace, without subjecting himself to embarrassing scrutiny.

Still, breast augmentation is a surgical procedure. It should still be approached with an educated awareness of the potential risks and rewards. There is a great deal that can be learned online about the fundamentals of cosmetic surgery, but the personal nature of the procedures, and patients, makes a one on one consultation with a qualified surgeon crucial. Dr. Robert Kearney is a board certified plastic surgeon that can help you make an educated decision about your breast augmentation in San Diego.

Of course, that's where plastic surgery can step in and knock out the monster that's not letting go of you. Since there are two main types of tissue involved in gynecomastia, it should be no surprise that multiple techniques are often used in tandem to accomplish the goal. Fatty tissue can be liposuctioned away, whereas the tougher, fibrous tissue often associated with gynecomastia must be excised. Dr. Teitelbaum will help you understand the potential risks and rewards you face, as well as how your unique physique will affect your male breast reduction surgery.

Lindon Cosmetic Surgery - UT

Eyelid Lift Surgery in UtahDuring the aging process, wrinkles, lines, and puffiness around the eyes contribute to a tired or aged appearance. Since the eyes are among the first things noticed about a person, it stands to reason that, whether they look old and tired or young and energetic, judgments about the eyes will extend to the person. Eyelid surgery (known as blepharoplasty) is a procedure performed to give the eyes a visual pick-me-up.

Dr. Kimball Crofts performs blepharoplasty in Utah. The surgeon performing the procedure makes small incisions in the natural contours around the eyes where any scars will be less noticeable. Fatty tissue is removed and loose skin is tightened, sometimes using laser to smooth the lower lids. If you are considering cosmetic surgery in Utah, you want to arrange a consultation with Dr. Crofts to discuss your goals and what can be done to help you reach them.

Body Contouring can Return a Part of You That Has Faded

Liposuction is one of the most frequently performed procedures. Localized fat pockets, resistant to exercise and diet, can be eliminated. The areas of the body of such accumulated fat pockets often include the hips, thighs, abdomen, neck , arms, and breasts. The best candidates are near normal weight people with elastic skin who desire an improved contour change. This procedure is usually performed under general or local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The incisions are placed in specific areas to provide the optimal contouring and aesthetic result. A fitted compression garment will be worn for about 3 to 4 weeks. Activity may be resumed in about 3 weeks and the final results will be apparent in about 3 months.

Liposuction Creates Proportion and Balance

The most commonly suctioned areas are the neck (underneath the chin), tummy, waist, love handles, hips, saddle bags, inner thighs, knees, and, infrequently, the ankles. During the procedure you are completely awake, allowing you to lie down and stand up. Everyone is aware that their body appears differently when they are standing vs. lying, and by having you stand your surgeon can more accurately sculpt your body's proportions. Pre-operative valium will help minimize any anxiety and discomfort you may feel. A special tumescent solution will be injected. This will numb the area as well as put fluid around the fat cells so they are more easily removed.

Male Breast Reduction Restores a Feeling of Masculinity

Like starting to shave, the lowering of one’s voice, or developing an Adam’s Apple, a flat and strong looking chest is seen as a sign of masculinity. It is humiliating to have a chest that looks even the slightest bit feminine. Many women seek breast augmentation because they say, “I look like a boy and just want to feel feminine.” And though men never make the opposite statement – probably because the words are too hard to say – it is probably in the back of their minds. As shy as some flat-chested women are about men seeing their chest naked, they tend not to have the same level of shame or humiliation as do men with gynecomastia. It is very common that even men with the mildest forms of gynecomastia never want to take their shirt off, wear loose clothes over a tight undershirt, and spend time in front of a mirror pushing their chest back to make it look flatter.

The Solution to Saggy Thighs is a Thigh Lift

The skin does not always fully conform to the body’s new shape following significant weight loss. The skin may lose elasticity and begin to sag. One of the areas of the body most affected by this problem is the thigh area.
Thanks to thigh lift surgery, a highly effective cosmetic surgical procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the thighs, a solution is available. A thigh lift can dramatically improve the thigh area, as well as enhance the overall appearance of the figure. After working hard to lose a significant amount of weight, developing a secondary problem such as excess, sagging skin can be very frustrating.

The Risks of Male Breast Reduction

When male breast-reduction surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there are risks. These include infection, skin injury, excessive bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia, and excessive fluid loss or accumulation. The procedure may also result in noticeable scars, permanent pigment changes in the breast area, or slightly mismatched breasts or nipples. If asymmetry is significant, a second procedure may be performed to remove additional tissue.
The temporary effects of breast reduction include loss of breast sensation or numbness, which may last up to a year.

The Best Candidate For A Tummy Tuck

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.
Patients who intend to lose a lot of weight should postpone the tummy tuck surgery. Also, women who plan future pregnancies should wait, as vertical muscles in the abdomen that are tightened during surgery can separate again during pregnancy.

Calf Implants Cosmetically Enhance One's Body

Many men and women are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their calves. Calf augmentation, or calf implants, is a surgical procedure that uses soft, solid silicone implants to increase the size and enhance the shape of the calves. Reasons for calf augmentation are varied and include cosmetic enhancement and reconstructive necessity. Men and women body builders often use calf augmentation to enhance the fullness, shape and bulk of the calf muscles when exercise falls short on further development. Others choose calf implants to improve proportions, definitions and curves of the lower legs for simple muscular enhancement or to correct the appearance of thin and/or bowed legs. Calf implants can also be used to correct asymmetry in calf muscles from trauma or genetic birth deformities such as in polio, spina bifida and clubfoot.

Liposuction is One of Today's Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

One of the most popular procedures today, liposuction is designed to eliminate fatty deposits in various areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks or neck. This is not a weight loss procedure but rather a sculpting of areas that are refractory to dieting and exercise. During the tumescent liposuction procedure, fluid is injected into the tissue to improve the efficiency of fat removal and to decrease the blood loss. Then, a cannula connected to a vacuum pump is inserted through a small 1/4” incision in a normal skin fold, and the area is suctioned. Today, advanced techniques using ultrasonic and power assisted cannulas have enhanced results. This body contouring procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and the patient can resume normal activities within a week's time, but must refrain from exercising and sports for three weeks postoperatively.

A Thigh Lift is the Answer if You Want to Firm and Tighten Your Thighs

The thighs tend to be an area of the body that is often overlooked but one that can greatly benefit from plastic surgery. The thighs can be affected by both redundant skin and an over-accumulation of fatty deposits. There are many reasons why the thighs undergo these changes. The thighs are one area of the body that is particularly prone to fat build-up and deterioration in skin quality. During the aging process, the skin loses elasticity, retaining ligaments stretch and gravity takes its toll. Thigh skin is especially prone to these changes as it is naturally thinner than skin found elsewhere in the body. Weight gain also plays a roll in this process as the added skin tension further stretches and thins the skin. The problem can become quite noticeable with significant weight loss. Sun exposure and cigarette smoking can also be major contributors to the problem. Cosmetic surgery can offer a real opportunity to correct these issues and achieve a firmer, more youthful look. A thigh lift, liposuction or both, may be just the answer.

The Difference Between a Full and Mini-Tummy Tuck

During abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that extends from hip to hip along the lower pubic area. A skilled plastic surgeon makes this incision so that the resulting scar is hidden under a bathing suit or by undergarments. The plastic surgeon then lifts the loose skin off of the abdominal wall, and tightens and repairs the loosened "rectus" muscles – the muscles that normally give the abdomen its strength – achieving the effect that an old-fashioned girdle would.
During Mini-Abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that generally spans only the width of the pubic area, and that is similar to a C-section incision. In both procedures, patients with excessive fat in the hips and flanks may have liposuction in these areas to contour them, but not in the areas of the abdomen that are being stretched because this could cause damage to the blood circulation in those areas, leading to scarring or even skin loss. The result of a tummy tuck is an abdomen that is tight and flat, a waist that is narrow and curvy and thighs and buttocks that are firmer.

Arm Lift Surgery is Becoming Increasingly Popular

Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift or arm tuck, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove redundant, flabby, and sagging skin folds of the upper arms. Hanging arm skin folds are not only unsightly, but also interfere with one’s ability to fit in sleeved tops, as well as causing underarm skin rash and irritation.
Brachioplasty can now offer patients the freedom of a lifestyle that they couldn't enjoy previously. In fact, the popularity of arm lift surgery has soared to a point that according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of Brachioplasty surgeries has tripled since 1997, with nearly 15,000 procedures being performed in 2005. Arm lift surgery is not exclusive to women. Actually, many men also undergo brachioplasty.

Male Breast Reduction Gets Rid of Embarrassment

Gynecomastia can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation and takes between 1 and 2 hours. Male breast reduction is a plastic surgery procedure where the reduction of breast volume can many times be accomplished with ultrasound assisted liposuction. In some cases, a small incision may need to be made in order to remove tissue directly. In rare cases, skin may be removed from around the areola.
Initial recovery time for gynecomastia is from 7 to 10 days. The complete recovery time is from 4 to 6 weeks. This means no heavy exercise such as lifting weights, vigorous workouts at the gym, or any other strenuous activity. It may take at least 6 months to a year for the final results.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Gets Rid of Your Protruding Belly

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, removes loose hanging abdominal skin and tightens weakened abdominal wall muscles. Because even diligent diet and exercise cannot fix these problems, each year more than 80,000 American women and men undergo tummy tuck surgery. Women and men who have a protruding belly, loose hanging abdominal skin and weak abdominal muscles are candidates for a full tummy tuck.
Mini-abdominoplasty, also known as a mini-tummy tuck, is reserved for those who have only a limited amount of loose skin or stretch marks in the lower abdomen, or above the public bone. Also, Mini tummy tuck does not usually involve the tightening of abdominal muscles. Therefore, it is sometimes combined with liposuction for patients with excessive fat, but limited looseness of the abdomen.

Remove Localized Fat Deposits with Liposuction

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Many plastic surgeons use an "ultrasonic" technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as "love handles" and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.
By injecting saline, anesthetic solution and epinephrine during liposuction ("tumescent" liposuction), bruising is minimized. Incisions for liposuction are small and easily hidden.

A Tummy Tuck may be the Answer to Your Problems

A tummy tuck is performed by first carefully marking the patient while they are standing. Careful pre-operative marking is essential to guiding the surgery to success. The procedure begins just above the pubis, by lifting the skin off the muscle from the pubic bone up to the bottom of the ribs. This releases the skin to allow the lower abdominal excess to be removed and the upper abdominal skin to be stretched downward to fill in the space from where the skin is removed. It also allows the surgeon to easily visualize the stretched out, thinned or separated muscles and to tighten them. Although the procedure does require an incision, many plastic surgeons' experience and intimate understanding of the patient’s anatomy and body contours will allow the scar to be well hidden in a bikini bathing suit or even skimpy underwear. Like all procedures, Abdominoplasty does carry risks, including the risk of infection, bleeding and the risk from anesthetics. It is important to note that under the care of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, great care will be taken to avoid or minimize these risks.

Remove Redundant, Flabby, and Sagging Skin Folds of the Upper Arms

Arm lift (also known as brachioplasty) is a procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm. The goal of the surgery is to obtain a more toned, defined arm.
Liposuction may be used in conjunction with brachioplasty to further enhance results. Incisions are usually made on the inside of the arm in an inconspicuous area. Depending on the extent of the surgery, some arm lift procedures can be accomplished by making a small incision in the armpit area. Most people can return to work one to two weeks following arm lift surgery with minimal restrictions.

Liposuction: The Procedure

Many plastic surgeons use a "tumescent technique." After the induction of general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, a large volume, up to several quarts, of very dilute local anesthetic is injected into the areas to be treated. There is a tiny dose of adrenaline in the fluid as well, which makes the blood vessels in the area clamp down. This prevents perhaps 95% of the blood loss that would otherwise occur during liposuction.
Thin hollow stainless steel tubes are placed through short (perhaps 1/4") incisions in the area treated and are used to suction away the appropriate amount of fat. Sheets of lightweight foam are placed on the treated areas, and a compression garment, like a corset, is placed. Bruising is usually scant.

Male Breast Reduction Restores Confidence in Men

Some men have deposits of excess breast tissue and fat in their breasts, giving them a female form. While sometimes related to medicines or a hormonal imbalance, these inciting causes are not often found to be a factor. Most cases are a matter of bad luck.

Correction of this problem known as gynecomastia is usually able to be accomplished with liposuction. In rare cases, there is so much extra skin that this must be reduced as well as the internal deposits.

This is an outpatient procedure performed at our own state of the art outpatient surgery center, requiring only 2-3 days of recovery time.

You may also desire this procedure if your skin in the thigh area is saggy, has an orange peel, flabby and/or dimpled appearance. The procedure may also be indicated if your thigh appearance improves dramatically when you lift the lax skin. If you are self-conscious about your lower body appearance you may also want to look into this procedure. Through a very tiny incision, which can be concealed, a plastic surgeon will place a tube deep beneath the skin. With a combination of ultrasound energy and suction, a plastic surgeon can remove and sculpt fatty layers. The liposuction they perform is usually circumferential which will tailor the area front to back and avoid any irregularities. Afterwards a compression garment or girdle will help control swelling and provide comfort while the skin shrinks and the bruising resolves.

Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a "tummy tuck," is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. This type of surgery can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. This procedure produces a permanent scar, which, depending on the extent of the original problem and the surgery required to correct it, can extend from hip to hip.

Are You a Thigh Lift Candidate?

You may be a candidate for thighplasty if you have experienced a loss of skin elasticity of the thigh, hip, or buttock areas. The procedure is intended to produce tighter, more attractive thigh and buttock skin with improved contours. It is also intended to decrease irregularities in skin surface.

Get Rid of Sagging Abdominal Skin with a Tummy Tuck

The skin over the abdomen area can become stretched out after childbirth or weight loss. This skin does not retract to its original tightness and can be loose and saggy. The abdominal muscles also have stretched out and have not regained their normal position, giving the appearance of a "pot belly" no matter how many sit-ups a person does. An abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" will correct both of these problems. The excess skin is removed and the muscles are tightened to firm up the abdomen and provide better contour.
